Van Air Systems In-line Desiccant Dryers supply a -40°F pressure dew point and are ideal for pneumatic equipment or instruments that require small volumes of extremely dry compressed air or gas.

Van Air offers two types of desiccant cartridges. Model ID15/SW uses a disposable silica gel cartridge. The beads are impregnated with a moisture indicator. A sight window on the body of the dryer is present to view the condition of the silica gel, which turns from blue to pink when saturated with moisture, signaling that it’s time to replace the cartridge.

Model ID15/IND uses a disposable molecular sieve cartridge and has a moisture indicator on top of the dryer housing that indicates the condition of the material in the cartridge.

Replacing the In-line Dryer cartridge is a quick procedure. No tools are needed and there is no handling of desiccant involved. Changing the cartridge only takes minutes. No regular maintenance is required. Van Air Systems In-line Dryers can be installed inside or outside in ambient temperatures up to 100°F. Only inlet and outlet connections are needed. In-line Desiccant Compressed Air Dryers perform effectively under cyclic or sporadic flow conditions. Pressure drop across the dryer is negligible.

The ID35 uses a sacrificial bed of loose silica gel desiccant that can be drained through a plug at the bottom of the vessel. New silica gel is added at the top. • Adsorption means the attraction of a substance – the adsorbate – to, and its subsequent accumulation on, the surface of a solid material–the adsorbant–which is caused by physical forces of attraction. Adsorbants are substances which are permeated by a large number of very fine pores which give rise to large internal surface area. This, in turn, determines the adsorption capacity of the adsorbant, since a large internal surface can accommodate more adsorbate.

PneumaticPlus SDD450 Series, The compressed air flow path through the dryer assures desiccant packing and maximum utilization of the desiccant’s adsorption qualities. The compressed air enters the dryer inlet port and is dispersed through a 10 micron polypropylene element (Dispersion) for removal of particles. The air is then distributed uniformly through the full desiccant bed to the bottom of intake tube. The intake tube is protected by a 40 micron polypropylene element. As the desiccant adsorbs moisture, a dramatic and highly visible color change from dark blue to light pink is evident. The color change works its way through the desiccant as the adsorptive qualities of the desiccant are diminished. Once the color change is visible through the Large Flat Sight Glass, the full desiccant bed has reached its maximum drying capacity and must be either changed or regenerated. Dry air exits through the inside diameter of the intake tube and out the outlet port of the unit.
